C.E.
The Kentucky Real Estate Commission (KREC) enforces the continuing education requirements for every Kentucky real estate licensee. Licensed agents are required to fulfill their education requirements by December 31st or face a fine of $500 in addition to making up the course work.
Online Classes Are Now Approved by the KREC
In the past, taking CE classes meant having to potentially drive long distances and maybe even sit in a boring classroom and listen to the same material over and over again. That changed in 2007 when Thornton’s Real Estate Academy became the first provider in Kentucky to receive approval from the Kentucky Real Estate Commission (KREC) for online continuing education courses that would fulfill an agents entire 6 hour requirement. (including a three hour law course)
Here’s a list of our courses currently approved for C.E. credit in Kentucky.

Question: Can I retake the same online classes that I took last year?
Answer: Yes. As long as you don’t need the Kentucky Core Law Class (required once every 4 years) you can take the same classes each year for credit.
Question: I want to make sure that the online 6 hour commercial core course will count as my “core” credit that’s required once every four years. Can you verify?
Answer: Yes. The online 6 hour commercial core course was developed by the KREC for those interested in commercial real estate since a common complaint from the “classroom core” was that a lot of the class didn’t apply to commercial real estate. Our online 6 hour commercial core course has been given a 900 level approval number. What that means is credit will automatically be applied towards your core law (once every four years) requirement.
Note: A high speed Internet connection (DSL/Cable, etc.) will be required to register for any of our online courses. Even a slower DSL connection (256k or lower) may cause you to experience wait times as videos and other multimedia resources load. If you have any questions about whether your computer setup meets our technical requirements, please contact us via email before registering for any courses.
